As you know YSP has been cut from the budget for next year.  Meaning – there will be no YSP next year.  It is not in the budget.

We are trying to help keep this from happening, but we do not have much time.  Donna and Erin spends much of the year planning for this special week.  They have deadlines that they must meet to rent rooms, hire transportation, order food, and most importantly to get licenses and participants!

So we need to have $25,000 raised by the end of October.  THEN – we need another $20000 by the program date.  At this point we have only $3000 raised and a few grants which have been applied for by the Shrine.

We are not sure if we can make this happen.  But we are trying our hardest.  Hopefully you have already received a letter from the Oblates.  If you have and haven’t given a donation yet – PLEASE DO SO NOW!  We’ll wait…

If you haven’t made a donation, please consider it.  I know that for many people, even $20 is a lot of money.  But if everyone that received a mailing donated just $20 we would have enough money for the program to continue in 2011.

What else can you do?

We will be phoning alumni and their families in the upcoming month.  Please prayerfully consider if you can give.

Ask for donations to YSP for your birthday, shower, wedding, Christmas, Festivus, dog’s birthday, when you get an ‘A’ on your report card…

Talk to your Mother’s Club,  Knights of Columbus or other organizations who practice a philanthropy to see if they would be willing to make a donation or provide a scholarship. It costs around $1000 per participant –

Host a bake sale, car wash, candy sale, etc…

Look for YSP merchandise coming soon!

Help spread the word among YSP alumni.  We don’t not have contact info for nearly half of the past participants and staff, so word of mouth will be very helpful.

Start an alumni chapter.  We are looking to begin Chapters across the US.  If you are interested, please contact us ASAP, we have materials to start you off.

Most importantly, pray!  Pray for the Oblates, for the Oblates’ employees, for the YSP family.
